Blog Post # 5 Chromebook Accessibility Features
In choosing a digital tool to use for this post I decided to focus on the Chromebook device itself. My school district uses Chromebooks for 1:1 devices from grades 3 to 8. Initially when the district went 1:1 devices it was for grades 6 to 8 first with Chromebooks, but then when we needed to make education accessible for all students during a global pandemic the district decided to include grades 3 to 5 with Chromebooks.
Accessibility is key to persons with all varying abilities, but for those with special needs it is imperative for an inclusive education. Even though Chromebook is not necessarily considered a specific assistive technological device, the company knows that accessibility is important. And not only does the site give descriptions of the Chromebook features it provides additional information on how to use the features including links to further information and short video clips.
The following screenshots are from this site and show some of the Chromebook features: https://www.google.com/chromebook/accessibility/#display-and-visuals
